FROSTBURG — Patricia A. (Bond) McKenzie, 74, of Frostburg, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 23, 1937 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Lavin) Klosterman. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her four brothers, Marshall, Francis, Leo and Daniel Klosterman; five sisters, Nellie Plummer, Angela Dundon, Mary Binnix, Virginia Jacobs, and Agnes Festerman. She also lost a beloved son-in-law, Robert L. Grimes, in 2005. Pat was employed as a cashier at Martin’s in LaVale. She intended to work until she reached the age of 75, a milestone she missed by only three days. Energetic and youthful by nature, Pat never shied away from hard work. She loved her family and close friends fiercely and always welcomed children into her home, even after working long days. She was previously em-ployed at the Frostburg Medicine Shoppe, JC Penney, and as a LPN at Memorial Hospital. She also operated her own clothing stores in Frostburg and assisted her former husband of 47 years, Arthur Bond, in operating the Bond Economy Hotel at the LaVale Toll House for many years. She completed pharmacy technician training in 1991 through Allegany College of Maryland Continuing Education. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Frostburg Farrady Post 24; the Frostburg Fraternal Order of the Eagles Post 1273 Auxiliary; and the Frostburg Elks Lodge 470 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving is her husband, Don McKenzie and their pet Chico; sister, Eloise Beal, South Carolina; as well as her three children, Tom Bond and wife Mary, Tami Grimes and friend Charlie Spiker, and Bill Bond and wife Carolyn. Pat had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her grandchildren are Arthur Thomas Bond III, Bryon Bond, Shanon Hosken, Brittany Bond, and Abbey Bond Brodie. Spouses of the grandchildren include Jamie Hosken, Step-hanie Bond, and Corporal Braxten Brodie. Her four great-grandchildren are Halle Bond, James Hosken, Tess Bond, Isabella Bond, and one due in May. Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Agnew officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Arthur Thomas Bond III, Bryon Bond, Jamie Hosken, Daniel Bible, Braxten Brodie, and James Craze.
