- Anita Lee Veronica Dorsey, 76, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Golden Living Center. Born Feb 22, 1940, in Cumberland, Miss Dorsey was the daughter of the late William Earl Dorsey Sr., and Sarah Lillian (Hoenicka) Dorsey. She was also preceded in death by her long-time companion, Edward Gracie; a brother, William E. Dorsey, Jr.; an infant child; a nephew, John Dorsey; and a sister-in-law, Doris Dorsey. Anita retired from the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America and for many years, she was an Avon Representative. Anita was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the Cresaptown Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2883 and the Frostburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1273 where she served as past state Madam President and served as treasurer for over 30 years. Anita is survived by her sister, Regina Robertson and husband, Herbert; and her brother, John Dorsey, all of Cumberland. She also leaves behind her nieces, who were like daughters to her, Regina Bridges and husband, Travis, Beans Cove, Pa., and Tina Robertson and companion, Pooh, Frostburg, Nikki Dorsey and wife, Viki, Cumberland, Lisa Dorsey, Cresaptown; her nephews, Bill Dorsey and Mark Dorsey, both of Cumberland; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Anita is also survived by her close friends, Miss Jean, Sara P., Mary W., Mary Ellen, Carol Lee, and Kathy Metz, who was like a daughter to her; and an aunt, Bernadette Leidinger, Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.
