Notes |
- Bill Turberville enlisted in the Confederate Army in about 1863. He served in the 36th Alabama Infantry, Co. F. Bill was shot in the head during the war, but survived, living the rest of his life with a steel plate in his head. His grandchildren loved to rub the spot on his head where he was shot and listen to him tell them the story of how the Yankees shot him.
Bill's first marriage was to Margaret Forehand. Children by this marriage included Lugene, Jane and Polly.
His second marriage was to Mary Frances McKinley. They lived in a log house and he farmed to make a living. Their children were Ananias Ansley "Bud", Mary Delia, Lula, Devan, Alfred "Alf", Grover Cleveland "Cleve" and William Curtis "Curt".
