- I have some additional information for the wife of Lewis McKenzie (1818-1862) who is ID #I01625.
You have her Person ID "I26406" and listed as "Elizabeth Something".
The following information was sent to the author in June, 2021:
Her name is Elizabeth Clingerman, born around 1816 in Somerset Co, PA. Their son, William McKenzie (who died in Allen Co, IN in 1914 lists her name as Betsy Clingerman.
Also, as a little background, I strongly believe that Henry Clingerman/Klingeman and Mary Garlitz are her parents. Henry was in the 1850 Census in Richland Co, Ohio with his other unmarried daughters, as well as Betsy & Lewis in the next township. Also, when Betsy & Lewis's daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 1854 in North Baltimore, Wood Co, Ohio, some of the sisters of Betsy and her father, Henry, are in Wood Co in the 1860 Census. However, I have not found the hard documentation to make that an official statement. But... I am confident enough that I have here parents on my tree on ancestry.
As an added note, the families of McKenzie, Garlitz, and Klingamen all come from the area in and around lower PA/Maryland line, such as Allegany Co, MD and Somerset Co, PA. I hope this helps fill in the gaps for their children.
(I am a descendant of one of her sisters and have been tracking the lineage down for all the children and grandchildren from some time.)
