- Will graduated in 1891 from MIT. His was the first class in chemical engineering to be graduated in this country.
(Medical):Will graduated in 1891 from MIT. His was the first class in chemical engineering to be graduated in this country. He worked for companies in Lawrence and Boston, MA, and Bellows Falls, VT, before joining the Merrimac Chemical Co. in 1897. He became treasurer in 1903, president in 1906, and chairman of the Board in 1928. He was credited with helping to secure tariff protection for the American Chemical industries which resulted at that time in this country no longer being dependent on foreign nations for its chemical needs. Will served on the governing board of MIT in the 1920s and held many offices as a member of several national and local organizations.
