      John Mark McClammy married Martha Ann Scogin; together they produced 19 children, many of whom lived. John owned a plantation in Monroe and Conecuh Counties in Alabama and was one of the wealthiest men in Monroe County in 1860. His fortunes declined after the War and a number of his children left to seek a new life by going west.

      /bJohn Mark McClammy was born on October 20, 1817 in Burke County, Georgia to Mark Lafayette and Nancy (Johnson) McClammy. John Mark McClammy married Martha Ann Scogin; together they produced 19 children, many of whom lived. John owned a plantation in Monroe and Conecuh Counties in Alabama and was one of the wealthiest men in Monroe County in 1860. His fortunes declined after the War and a number of his children left to seek a new life by going west.
      Martha Ann Scogin, daughter of Wright and Susan Scogin, bore 19 children during her lifetime. She managed the household portion of the plantation as well as rearing her children.
      John also fathered at least 3 children by a slave woman of his, Lulie Reed: John McClammy (changed last name to "Griggs"), Tyler McClammy and Henry McClammy.
