- Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Marlene Ann Conner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Conner of Columbia City, Ind., to Paul E. Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Rice, Huntington, Ind., former residents, in the early fall in Columbia City. The double ring ceremony was performed in Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Graham L. Kleespie officiating. The bride wore a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle, styled with fitted lace bodice, scalloped square neckline, and long tapering sleeves. The bouffant skirt featured alternating panels of Charitiily lace and tulle. Her veil of imported French illusion was held by a regal lace crown, studded with pearls and iridescent sequins. She carried a bouquet of Talisman roses atop a white Bible. A reception was held in the church parlors after the ceremony. Guests were present from Chicago, St. Paul, Minn., and Cumberland. For their trip to Niagara Falls and Canada, the bride wore an aqua knit suit with honey-dew accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses. Mr. Rice attended Fort Hill High School. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rice, Baltimore Pike and of Mrs. Martha Clark, Bedford Street. The Cumberland Sunday Times, December 11, 1955.
