- CRESAPTOWN,MARYLAND -- Eva Theresa McKenzie, 82, of Cresaptown, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 at The Golden Living Center.
She was born Jan. 29, 1928 in Cresaptown. Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Albert McKenzie; her mother, Alice (Robinson) McKenzie Clayton; and her step-father, Brooks Clayton.
She was also preceded in death by her five brothers, Samuel, Thomas, John, William, and Clarence "Buck" McKenzie; and her five sisters, Ethel McKenzie, Nell McKenzie, Helen Lease, Margaret Clayton, and Anna Lease.
Miss McKenzie was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. She had worked in the cafeteria at several schools, including Parkside Elementary and Columbia Street Elementary.
Miss McKenzie was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Theresa enjoyed scrapbooking events of family and friends, collecting recipes and cookbooks, and spending time with family. She was a great dog lover, especially with her faithful companion, Tippy.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Sarah McKenzie Ketterman Shaffer and Mary McKenzie; her nieces and nep-hews, Marie Lease, Samuel Lease, Eva Jean Goldsworthy, Thomas McKenzie, Mary Lechliter, Kenneth McKenzie, Michael McKenzie, Donald Mc-Kenzie, Karlon McDowell, William G. McKenzie, Alice Dombrowsky, Judy Brown, Fred McKenzie, Janet Durst, Joan Evans, William McKenzie, Russell Lease, Shirley Pilkerton, Gerald Clayton, Peggy Vaughn, Barbara Maisonneuve, Janice Graver, Bonnie Helms, John Clayton, Theresa Allen, and Karen Clayton; several great-nieces and nephews and great,-great nieces and nep-hews; and a special friend, Helga Clayton.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian Wake Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jerome Dunn, OFM, Cap, celebrant.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew, Scott, Brian, Timothy and Cody Lease, and James Habersach.
