- Michael Brotemarkle, aged 73, died last night at 11 o’clock at his home on Williams Road, one mile from Cumberland, from pneumonia, superinduced by Spanish influenza. He had been in a debilitated condition for about a year. Mr. Brotemarkle was born on the Bedford Road, about three miles from this city. His father, Michael Brotemarkle, was a pioneer of the county. He was a successful farmer. Forty-seven years ago he married Louise Simmons, of Cumberland Valley. Surviving are his fourteen children as follows: William Brotemarkle, Baltimore; Ellsworth S., Tilden; Clarence W., Rolland and Harry M. Brotemarkle and Mrs. Edith McKenzie and Mrs. Bertha Evans, Cumberland; Mrs. Bell Vanmeter, Cresaptown, Md.; Otis M. Brotemarkle, Omaha, Neb.; Alvey E. Brotemarkle, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Logsdon, Patterson’s Creek and Nora and Earl Brotemarkle, at home. Mr. Brotemarkle was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
