Special to the Alleganian, Dawson, March 6 – The remains of Alden McKenzie, a B & O fireman who was instantly killed in a wreck at Rowlesburg on the 3rd, were brought here on a special train over the B & O Saturday at 2 p.m. for interment. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McKenzie, late of Brunswick, Pa., and was about 32 years old. The deceased was formerly of this place, but late of Cumberland, and was well known and had a host of friends and associates here. He lived an exemplary life and was very much respected and greatly admired by all who knew him. His sudden demise was a terrible shock to the community. In his death, the community has lost a good citizen, and in his home, a faithful loving companion and parent. The remains were in charge of the Brotherhood of Firemen to which body he was a worthy member. The funeral services were conducted from the M .E. Church by Rev. John Dayton, of 21st, assisted by Rev. D.A. Foard, of Cumberland, and Miss Jennie Smith, the great railroad evangelist. The funeral attendance was the largest that was ever witnessed at this place. The remains were laid to rest in the Dawson burying ground, there to wait the final summons, while his spirit has taken its everlasting flight to the great beyond. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the community. The Cumberland Alleganian, March 10, 1904
Buried in Dawson Cemetery, Allegany Co., Maryland.
