He was born Sept. 4, 1901, in Brothersvalley Township, a son of the late Henry and Susan (Meyers) Deist. He was preceded in death by son Herbert. Survived by his wife, the former Mildred M. McKenzie and these children: Charles, Berlin; Harry Jr., Blairsville; Mrs. James (Shirley) Rotnen, Avon, Ohio; Mrs. John (Ruth) Kelly, Dillen, Mont.; Mrs. Gary (Karen) Norris, Berlin; 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Clara Engleka, Berlin; Mrs. Raymond (Nellie) Sarver, Berlin; Mrs. Mildred Carver, Berlin; Mrs. Leon (Evelyn) McQuade, Fairhope; and Ralph, Heightsville, Md. Services were conducted Dec. 31 in Johnson and Son Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles W. Sigler officiating. Interment in the Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Meyersdale Republic, January 8, 1975
