- CUMBERLAND - Walter Webster Wertz, 90, of Cumberland, died Monday, Aug. 2, 1993, at Lions Manor Nursing Home. Born April 14, 1903 in Meyersdale, Pa., he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle M. (McKenzie) Llewellyn Wertz; one stepson, J. Robert Llewellyn and one stepdaughter, Ethel J. Umstot. Mr. Wertz was a retired master plumber for Walter N. Yoder & Sons where he was employed for 55 years. He was a former member of the Pinto Mennonite Church and was presently a member of the Mennonite Group. Surviving are one son, Milton W. Wertz, Cumberland; one stepson, Herbert M. Llewellyn, Springfield, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Catherine L. Adams, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; two brothers, Samuel Wertz, New Jersey; Ralph Wertz, San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Emma, of Pinto; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Thursday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. J. Merrill Rayner. Interment will be at Pinto Mennonite Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Ward, John Loar, Bob Robertson, Gary Umstot, Lou Schultz and Charles Thuss. The Cumberland Times-News, August 4, 1993.
