Guy Troxell McKenzie, 83 of 134 Spooks Branch Road, Asheville, died Sunday, May 29, 2005. Mr. McKenzie was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Westernport, Md., and was resident of Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Guy and Ada Stuby McKenzie.
He worked as an appliance repairmen for Reusings Refrigerator Dealership, retiring in 1987. Guy was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Dulcie Lee McKenzie, son, Guy Thomas McKenzie and his wife, Lauren, of Charleston, S.C., sister, Marguerite Chittum of Winterhaven, Fla., brothers, Frederick, Charles and William McKenzie, all of Westernport, Md., and grandson, Scott McKenzie and his wife, Christina.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Beaverdam Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Stan Willett officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence.
