- Mrs. Margaret D. Byers, 70, of 347 1/2 Bedford Street, died Sunday at Cumberland Memorial Hospital and Medical Center. Born July 28, 1916 at Ridgeley, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Austin O. and Ollie F. (McKenzie) Fortney. She was preceded in death by one of her two husbands, Ellis G. Byers. Surviving are one son, Randy R. Ross, Severn; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Bevers, Ludlow, Ill.; one brother, Austin J. Fortney, Luke; one sister, Mrs. Ethel DeLawder, city; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Services will be conducted there Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Bill Hyde. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lonaconing. The Cumberland Evening Times, December 22, 1986
