- ELLERSLIE — George W. Lilly Jr., 67, of Ellerslie, suddenly passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at his residence. Born Aug. 25, 1943, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George W. Lilly Sr. and Marguerite June (Elrick) Lilly. Mr. Lilly was also preceded in death by one brother, Dennis R. Lilly. Mr. Lilly is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Dawson) Lilly; one son, Eric W. Lilly; two daughters Cindy (Lilly) Troutman and husband Mark and Carrie (Lilly) Witt and husband Robert; six grandchildren, Tahmya and Shaleena Troutman, Brodie and Bryce Witt and Kayla and Eric Lilly II; one sister, Mary Teter and husband Dave; and one niece, Connie Griffith and husband Nick; and two great-nephews, Mark Teter and Aidan Griffith. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Velma Dawson; four step-daughters, Lisa Weist and husband Steve, Patty Deitz, Becky Sheetz and Jessica Deitz; 11 step-grandchildren Cody Lee and Katelynn Prinkey, Cheyenne Southers, Zachary and Brady Logsdon, Austin and Trevor Sheetz, Brittney Waltman, Amanda, Ashley and Jonathan Logsdon; and one step-great-grandchild, Carter Lee Prinkey. Mr. Lilly was a graduate of Mount Savage High School, class of 1961. He was a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Sportsmen Club, Kennell’s Mill Outdoor Sportsmen Club and Ellerslie Outdoor Club. He was also an avid golfer and loved spending time on the golf course with his family and friends. Mr. Lilly was retired from the Local 1024 Carpenters Union. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother with a great wealth of knowledge, the prettiest blue eyes and the most generous heart. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His body was cremated in accordance with his wishes. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Father Eric Gauchat O.F.M. Cap. as celebrant. Friends will be received one hour prior to the services. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
