- SCOTTDALE, June 12 — Miss Lydia Porter, in her 92nd year, died at 3.30 o'clock Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor of 314 North Chestnut street, where she had made her home for several years. She suffered a fall several weeks ago and did not recover from the injury. Miss Porter was a daughter of the late Moses and Amy Walde (sic: Wade) Porter, was born in Fayette county, April 18, 1841, and lived for many years at Owensdale. With her mother she moved to Scottdale 30 years ago to live with her sister, the late Mrs. Rebecca Keyser, widow of John Keyser, who for many years had been a resident of Owensdale. Both mother and sister died here years ago, the mother at the age of 95 years. One brother survives, George W. Porter, west of town, now in the nineties. A number of nephews and nieces also remain. The funeral service will be at the home at 314 Chestnut street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. R. P. Andrews, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, of which Miss Porter was a member, officiatng. Burial will be in Scottdale Cemetery. The Connellsville Daily Courier, June 12, 1933.
