- Christiansburg, VA- Mathew James Habersack, 38, of Christiansburg VA, formerly of Cumberland, MD, suddenly passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015. Born June 1, 1976, he was the son of Vickie L. (Nee) and James J. Habersack. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Susan Habersack and his Grandfather Randolph Nee. He is survived by his wife, Laura Marguerite (McGrath) Habersack,Va; his parents Vickie L. (Nee) and James J. Habersack; his Grandmother Maxine Nee, MD; his Grandfather Elmer Habersack, MD; His Mother and Father-in-Law James and Janet McGrath, Massachusetts; and was looking forward to the birth of his first child. Mathew graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1994; Frostburg State University in 1999 with degrees in Environmental Science and Wildlife Management; and later from Virginia Tech with a Master's Degree in Biological Systems Engineering. He enjoyed forestry and the outdoors. Visitation will be in Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Greg Chervenak, O.F.M., Cap. officiating. Interment will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
