He died on 8 Jun 2008 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. FROSTBURG - Franklin P. Shumaker, 84, of Frostburg, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at the WMHS Memorial Campus. Born April 9, 1924, in Boynton, Pa., he was the son of the late Harrison W. Shumaker and Nellie (Dishong) Shumaker. Franklin was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette C. "Bernie" (Weimer) Shumaker; one brother, John C. Shumaker; and one sister, Kay Sines. Mr. Shumaker was a retired produce manager with A & P. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Franklin was a member and usher of Saint Michael Church, member and former Warden of the Knights of Columbus 1442, and member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, all of Frostburg. His passion and hobby was woodworking. In retirement, he and his wife Bernie enjoyed camping. Franklin never met a stranger. Mr. Shumaker is survived by one daughter, Susie Bucchino, of Frostburg, and children Matthew and Sarah; three sons, Stephen Shumaker and wife Sheri, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., and children Bryan, David and wife Erin, Kristin and husband Casey Hean, Justin, Joshua, Elizabeth and Madison, Gary Shumaker and wife JoAnn, of Frostburg, and children Amy and husband Jeff, and Aaron, and James Shumaker and wife Kimberly, of Belcamp, and children Ryan, Emily and Kevin; three great-grandsons, Tyler, Kyle and Noah; one brother, Ronald K. Shumaker, of Meyersdale, Pa.; special friend, Dottie Kerns, of Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Father Ty Hullinger as celebrant. Interment will be in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Flintstone. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bryan Shumaker, David Shumaker, Ryan Shumaker, Kevin Shumaker, Aaron Shumaker, Tyler Shumaker, Josh Shumaker and Justin Shumaker.
