Born March 8, 1920, in Wellersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Cecil L. and Nora M. (Sturtz) Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James McKenzie; one daughter, Faye King; two sons, Gary “Butch” McKenzie and Terry McKenzie; one brother, Leon Long; and one infant sister. Ms. McKenzie formerly worked at the Princess Restaurant, Grantsville Foodland, Piney Ridge Greenhouse, Old Rail Post 6025 and Dunagans. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mount Savage. Surviving are one son, Ronald McKenzie and wife Carole, Hedgesville, W.Va.; three daughters, Cherie DeHaven and husband Jim of Corriganville, Gayle Kenney and husband Gene of Wellersburg, Debbie Stafford and husband Roy of Mount Savage; one sister, Doris Hosselrode of LaVale; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Mary “Weezie” McKenzie, Mount Savage, and Diane McKenzie, Corriganville. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, Dec. 26, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. with Monsignor James Hannon officiating. Following the services her body will be cremated in accordance with her wishes. Committal services will be held in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
