GRANTSVILLE — Betty Louise Maust, 83, of Grantsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at her daughter Kathy’s home of Grantsville, surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren. Born on May 19, 1927, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Mary (Wiley) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carl William Maust, who died July 5, 2010; a son, Donald Rae Failinger; and a brother, Harley McKenzie Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Zimmerman and husband Rich, Grantsville; six grandsons, Adam Carl Bach, Lucas Timothy McMillan, Paul Andrew Zimmerman, Shawn William Zimmerman, Carl Isaac Zimmerman and Caleb Matthew Zimmerman; one granddaughter, Heidi LaRose McMillan, all of Grantsville; one grandson, Donald Gene Failinger, Chincoteague, Md.; one granddaughter, Cheryl Barker, Glendale, Ariz.; one great-grandson, Steven Louis Keister; one sister, Patty Carver, Blacksburg, Va.; two brothers, Ronald McKenzie, Beverly, W.Va., Robert McKenzie, Grantsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God, Boynton, Pa. She retired from the Flushing Shirt Factory after 27 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and a very devoted grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed doing ceramics and playing bingo. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation for all the love, prayers and concern shown to them through her illness and loss. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Cornerstone Assembly of God, Boynton, on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Twigg officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
