- GRANTSVILLE — Robert L. McKenzie, 78, of Grants-ville, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, surrounded by his family. Born Jan. 19, 1935, in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Harley McKenzie Sr. and Mary (Wiley) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harley McKenzie Jr.; and a sister, Betty L. (McKenzie) Maust. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, M. Louise (Chaffin) McKenzie; three children, son, Steven T. Crum and wife, Sue, Indiana; daughter, Sandra R. (Crum) Murray and husband, Charles and son, Kevin L. McKenzie and wife, Tanya, all of Grantsville; six grandchildren, Tracy R. Murray-Stewart and husband, Jon, Severna Park, Kerry J. Murray and significant other, Chris, Grantsville, Jennifer R. (Crum) Lehman and husband, Olin, Randall Crum and wife, Jennifer and Sarah Crum and significant other, BJ, all of Indiana, Ashley M. Folk and Andy Folk, both of Grantsville; five step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren; a sister, Patty L. Carver and significant other, John, Virginia; a brother, Ronald R. McKenzie and wife, Bev, Elkins, W.Va.; and five nieces and a number of friends. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a welder for most of his adult life, working at Celanese until they closed. He then went on to be a car salesman at Spoerl’s (Timbrooks) until retiring in 2000. Robert was a member of the Allegheny Beagle Club since 1963 and was so proud to have raised and trained a National Field Champion dog in 2007. At Robert’s request he will be cremated and services will be held at a later date. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.
