- FINZEL - Karl L. McKenzie, 81, of Finzel Road, died Tuesday, June 18, 1991 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born June 29, 1909 in Pocahontas, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Samantha (Warner) McKenzie. His first wife, Veronica (Hersick) McKenzie, preceded him in death. Mr. McKenzie retired from the Celanese Corporation in 1970. He served in the South Pacific Theater of Operations with the U.S. Army in World War II. Mr. McKenzie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Midland; Farrady Post 24, American Legion, Frostburg; Frostburg Lodge 348, Loyal Order of Moose; and a life member of Frostburg Aerie 1273, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Louise (Bootman) McKenzie; one brother, Donald J. McKenzie, RD 2, Frostburg; one sister, Isabel Davis, Elkins, W.Va.; and a number of nephews and nieces. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Thursday and Friday. A Christian wake service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church by the Rev. William Moody. Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Avilton. Military honors will be accorded by members of Farrady Post, American Legion.
