- FROSTBURG — Mary E. McKenzie, 92, of Cresaptown, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born May 27, 1920 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Leonard McKenzie and Edna McKenzie. Mary was a member of the Allegany County Board of Education and also served in the cafeteria at Vo Tech. She was also a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown and the Cresaptown Eagles Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence McKenzie, ten siblings; Roy, Frances, Harry, Eugene, Irvin, Genevieve, Anna Mae, Edna, Alice, and Helen. Surviving are one daughter, Jolieta Conners and husband Richard "Dick" Connor; one son, John Thomas Atkinson and wife Eurnice, Pencacola, Fla.; grandchildren; Dennis Connor Sr., Winchester, Va., Jeffery Connor, Cresaptown, Cathy Connor and husband Billy, Lonaconing, Michelle Butler and husband Robert, Cumberland, Mary Catherine Koelkar and husband Burt, Fla., Jennifer Doerk and husband Dan, Alabama, Sean Atkinson and wife Ecummi, Japan; great-grandchildren, Dennis Connor Jr., Christopher Connor, Cassie Crowe-Shugars and husband Mike, Taylor Shockey, Katie Shockey, Chloe Shugars, Shawn, Allison, Quin, Avery, Regan, Sophia, Jessica, Joseph, Joshua; one sister, Mildred Middleton, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her extended family at Western Maryland Nursing and Rehab Haven Unit who gave her such wonderful T.L.C. and Dr. Sidhu. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be conducted at Saint Michaels Church Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Eric Gauchat O.F.M. Cap. as celebrant. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Garden. Condolences may be sent to the family at durstfuneralhome.com.
