- LaVale – Charles William “Bill” Chaney, 75, of 61 LaVale Court, died Monday, April 5, 1993, at Memorial Hospital. Born June 29, 1917, in Pleasant Hill, Pa., he was a son of the late Curtin Chaney and Ellen (Tedrow) Chaney. He is also preceded in death by four brothers, John Chaney, Richard Chaney, Howard Chaney, and Glen Chaney; and three sisters, Leora Miller, Uela Chaney, and Alzenia Chaney. Mr. Chaney was a retired employee of A&P Tea Company, Frostburg, after 38 years of service. He was a corporal in the air force during World War II, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frostburg, Holy Name Society, and Farrady Post 24 American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Helen (Warne) Chaney; one brother, James Chaney, Garrett, Pa.; two sisters, Dorothy Pritts, Garrett, Pa., and Sarah Saylor, Berlin, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church by Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Farrady Post 24 American Legion will accord graveside honors. Cumberland Times-News, April 6, 1993
