  Notes	On Thursday, July 15, 2021, Ricky Lee McKenzie passed away peacefully at his home, after a short but very difficult battle with lung cancer. Ricky was 62 and was surrounded by his loving family. Ricky was born Feb. 21, 1959, in Frostburg. He worked for Bayliner for 20 years. After they closed, he went on to work as a "fireman" at Mount Savage Firebrick, where he retired after 13 years, due to his declining health. On May 8, 1985, he married his wife, Diana. Together they raised two children, Meggan and Skylar, whom he loved and adored. Ricky had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to hunt mushrooms (although he would never eat them) and always enjoyed a good "ride out the lane" to look for deer. Ricky was known for being a charmer and was quiet and kind. Often referred to as a "loner," Ricky was always most comfortable at home with his family, watching Law and Order in the dark. A son of Thomas Arthur "Red" McKenzie and Rose Elizabeth (Linn) McKenzie, Ricky is preceded in death by his father, Arthur, and his youngest brother, Jeffrey Morrison McKenzie. He is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn (Emerick) McKenzie; two children, Meggan and Skylar McKenzie; mother, Rose McKenzie; older siblings, Thomas Arthur "Tom" McKenzie Jr. and Mara Lane (McKenzie) Cannillo. Ricky is also survived by two beautiful granddaughters that he thought the world of, Jayla and Rya Long, as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins. The McKenzie family thanks the Hospice staff at UPMC who assisted them with Ricky's care in his final days. Their compassion and empathy were greatly appreciated. It was Ricky's decision to not have any funeral services. Instead, the family is working on, and planning, Celebration of Life services that will be announced at a later time.
