He died on 24 May 2008 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. RAWLINGS - Edward L. "ET" Thomas, 76, of Rawlings, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at WMHS-Braddock Campus, Cumberland. Born June 12, 1931, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Edward and Olive (Knepp) Thomas. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Emmogene "Sissy" Thomas and one great-granddaughter, Tiffany Marie Adams. Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran of the Korean Conflict, owner and operator of The House of Ice, Rawlings, former owner and operator of The University Snack Bar, Braddock Road, Frostburg, former Vice-president of the News, Hi-Way and Hudson Oil Companies and was a former employee of ABL. Surviving are his wife and sidekick, Beverly (Buser) Thomas; one son, Edward Lee Thomas and wife Vicki, of Frostburg; three stepsons, Rick T. Brode and wife Krista, of Cumberland, Troy P. Brode and wife Lisa, of Sarasota, Fla., and Chris S. Brode and wife Cathy, of Hagerstown; four daughters, Brenda Skidmore and husband Tom, of Midlothian, Cindy Dugan and special friend Nat Schadt, of Frostburg, Beverley Crawford and husband Joe, of Shaft, W.Va., and Marsha Eichhorn, of Frostburg; aunt, Mildred Davis, of Westernport; uncle, Bernell Knepp, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; twelve grandchildren, Tom "Tucker" Skidmore, Keith Skidmore, Lisa Skidmore, Lauri Garlitz, Ed "Bud" Thomas, Casey Crawford, Joey Crawford, David "Teddy" Crawford, Ashley Eichhorn, Ricky Brode, Briana Brode, and Sam Brode; and eight great-grandchildren, Luke, Dalton, Alex, Alyssa, Joshua, Tyler, Hunter, and Maddie. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Lydia Martin officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Post 13 Honor Guard. The family requests that contributions be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
