      FROSTBURG — Walter G. “Blue Jay” Minnick, 82, of Frostburg, died Friday, March 28, 1997, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born Sept. 29, 1914, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James Edward and Annie (Blocher) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Minnick and Wolford Minnick; and one grandson, John B. Stevens. Mr. Minnick was employed by ABL; the Liquor Board as an inspector; and as Deputy Clerk of the Court. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where he was a member of the consistory for years, and had been secretary/treasurer and a representative to Frostburg State Campus Ministry. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge 99 AF & AM, and the Frostburg Lions Club. He was one of the best athletes to graduate from Beall High School having played baseball and soccer. Surviving are his wife, Anna (Jeffries) Minnick; three daughters, Patricia Stevens and husband John, Carolyn Barmoy and husband Gary, and Debra Brodbeck and husband John, all of Frostburg; 10 grandchildren, Kevin, Patrick and Scott Stevens, Doug, Shawn and Dawn Barmoy, Amy Twigg, Lisa Jackson, Ryan Brodbeck and John Brodbeck Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Minnick and wife Agnes, Carlos. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at ll a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence A. Neumark officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Stevens, Patrick Stevens, Scott Stevens, Doug Barmoy, Shawn Barmoy and Ryan Brodbeck. Great-grandsons Chase Barmoy and Zachary Stevens will be honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ or Beall High Athletic Association.
