      BORN: 28 April 1859 DIED: 8 May 1924
Allen Payne Mattox was the son of Henry Joseph Jackson and Elizabeth Brazell Mattox of Tattnall County, Georgia. He was married to Mary Jane Southwell, daughter of William E. Southwell, 21. A story related by his son, Thomas Ottis: Allen Payne's sister, Martha, told him he didn't love his children enough, he was too hard on them. His reply was "I love them enough that I want other people to like them."
