- LAVALE — Elmer Arthur McKenzie, 80, of 9 Ashbury Ave., LaVale, died Sept. 7, 2003, at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland. He was a patient there since Aug. 19, 2003. Born in Detmold, on Oct. 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Arthur Lewis McKenzie and Anna Florence (Dawson) McKenzie. Retired from the Valley High School as a custodian he was also a former construction worker. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Blubaugh) McKenzie; one daughter, Carol George and husband, Jack, of LaVale; one son, Arthur McKenzie and wife, Carol, of Lonaconing; one sister Olive George, of Sykesville; two grandchildren, Julie and Cindy; two great-grandchildren, John and Natalie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McKenzie requested he be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, PA., Lonaconing with the Rev. Bernadette Ross. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing. Published in The Cumberland (MD) Times-News, Tuesday, September 9, 2003
