- AVILTON - Herbert L. Garlitz, 63, died Thursday at Frostburg Community Hospital. Born here Dec. 26, 1921, he was a son of the late William Garlitz and Mary (McKenzie) Garlitz. Mr. Garlitz served with the Army in World War II and was a self-employed plumber. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church here. Surviving are his widow, the former Mildred Miller; one son, Harry Edward Garlitz, here; a daughter, Diane Garlitz, at home; four brothers, Albert Garlitz, Roy Garlitz and Harry Garlitz, all of Avilton; Ira Garlitz, Frostburg; four sisters, Mrs. Beulah Hetz, here; Mrs. Freda Minnick and Mrs. Alma Durst, both of Moscow; Mrs. Shirley Mason, Frostburg, and four grandchildren. Friends may call at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Saturday and Sunday. The rosary will be recited there Sunday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's by Father William Moody. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
