Born Sept. 8, 1947, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Verna (Raley) McKenzie. Mrs. Purbaugh was also preceded in death by one brother, Patrick Wayne McKenzie. Mrs. Purbaugh was a retired registered nurse with the Finan Center, Cumberland. She was a member of Saint Michaels Catholic Church, Frostburg. Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Jim Purbaugh; two sons, Jimmy Purbaugh Jr. and friend Lavada, Lonaconing, and Jeff Purbaugh and wife Tara, Cumberland; one daughter, Julia (Oggie) Guest and husband Michael, Midland; ten grandchildren, Cheyenne, Stephanie, T.J., Miranda, Melina, Zachary, Mikey, Dustin, Davison and Raven; three sisters, Mary McKenzie Fike, Finzel, Regina McKenzie, Frostburg, and Sally Scott, Loartown; two brothers, Richard Dick McKenzie, Grantsville, and David McKenzie, Frostburg; mother-in-law, Catherine Purbaugh, Frosburg; one sister-in-law, Kay Gaynor, Frosrtburg; one brother-in-law, Patrick Purbaugh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Father Paul Byrnes officiating. Her body will be cremated following the services. November 13, 2002, Cumberland Times-News. She was cremated on 14 Nov 2002.
