- FINZEL — Irene Arlena Ramhoff, 85, of Finzel, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born June 1st, 1926 in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Simon Caton and Minnie McKenzie. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roy “Duke” Ramhoff; two sisters, Mary McKenzie and husband Arthur, and Leona Kitis and husband Fritz; and three brothers, Clarence “Bud” Caton, Carl Caton, and Herbert Caton. Irene was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and loved going to church with her sister Mary. She worked at Kroger’s Market in Pittsburgh, Pa., before returning to Finzel to raise Richard in a better environment. On returning to Finzel she worked at the Hen House Restaurant on Long Stretch and also the Silver Leaf in Frostburg. Irene above all else was a very special mother to Richard. She cherished every day that she had with him. Teaching him and comforting him through his whole life. She loved being a homemaker and lived a long and happy life. Irene will be sadly missed by all family and friends. Surviving are a son, Richard J. Ramhoff and wife Melissa, Finzel; one grandson, Cooper Corley, Finzel; sisters, Mae McKenzie and husband Dick, Finzel and Isabelle Minnick, Frostburg; brothers, Lawrence Caton, Ohio, Anthony Caton, Ohio and Stanley Caton and wife Jenny, Oldtown; a sister-in-law, Helen Caton, Frostburg; sisters-in-laws, Donna Sipple and husband George, Salisbury, Eileen Ohler and husband Reverend Oscar Ohler, Ridgeley, W.Va., Ruth Anne Pugh, Frostburg and Anna Mae Ramhoff, Ohio; along with many nieces and nephews and special friends. Family and friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Durst Funeral Home P.A. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Oscar Ohler officiating. Interment will be in the Greenville Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pocahontas. Pallbearers will be grandson, Cooper Corley; nephews, Davis Kitis, John Kitis and Fred Caton; great nephews, Dave Siegmyer and Timmy Siegmyer. The family would like to thank all her Special Caregivers at Frostburg Village where she lived for the past four years.
