He died on 29 Nov 2004 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. MIDLAND - Joseph Paul Spiker, 70, of McVeigh's Alley, S.W., Midland, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Nov. 2, 1934, at Midland, he was the son of the late Henry Lorenzo Spiker and Blanche Gertrude (McKenzie) Spiker. Mr. Spiker was retired from PPG #7, as a boiler house operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Beall High School. Mr. Spiker was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland; the Midland Sportsmen's Club; Cresaptown Eagles and Sports Club; National Rifle Association; and the American Legion Post 169. Surviving are his wife, Doris Lee (Gray) Spiker; children, Joseph W. Spiker, Midland; Jan Lee (Spiker) Lowery, Cumberland; Joan Kae (Spiker) Duckworth, Oldtown; June Rae (Spiker) Thomas, Cumberland; James P. Spiker, Lonaconing; Jody Brooks Spiker, Midland; and Gerald C. Gray, Midland; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemarie (Spiker) McAlpine, Knapps Meadow, and Eileen Cecilia (Spiker) Oester, Salisbury, Pa.; and one brother, Henry Sylvester Spiker, Midland. At his request, he will be cremated. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, with Father Paul Breczinski as celebrant. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
