- Jeremiah Cecil GARLITZ (Agnes MCKENZIE-3, Jeremiah James-2, John M.-1) was born on 22 Feb 1896. He was christened on 12 May 1896 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. He died on 15 Oct 1945 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Cecil Garlitz, 49, of 50 North Mechanic street, was found dead in bed this morning when called to go to work at McKenzie's Tavern, North Mechanic street, where he had been employed as a bartender. Garlitz was a veteran of the First World War and had been ill several days prior to his death this morning about 9 a. m. Dr. Linne H. Corson, deputy county medical examiner, said death was due to natural causes. He was a son of the late Enoch A. and Agnes (McKenzie) Garlitz, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, this city, and of Henry Hart Post. No. 1411, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was unmarried. He is survived by four brothers: Paul H., Mt. Savage; Joseph R., this city, Cornelius C., Detroit, Mich.; and John P. Garlitz, Avilton, who returned yesterday from the South Pacific after four years' service with the Fifth Army Air Force. Three sisters also, survive: Mrs. Eloy Barba, Mrs. L. P. Monahan, and Mrs. Roy Wentling, all of Detroit. The Cumberland Evening Times, October 15, 1945
