- GILMORE — Roy Clarence McKenzie, 86, of Quinn Street, SW, Gilmore, Frostburg, died Jan. 7, 2002 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Aug. 15,1915, at Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Arthur and Anna (Dawson) McKenzie. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, M. Kathleen (Lease) McKenzie, in 1962; second wife, Thelma B. (Miller) Clark McKenzie, in 1997; two brothers, Lorraine Dawson and Marvin T. McKenzie; one sister, Anna (McKenzie) Nicol; and one grandson, Mark T. McKenzie, in 1995. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lonaconing, and the Senior Citizens of Lonaconing. He was a coal miner for 25 years, and retired from Jesse Fuller & Son Masonry Contractor, where he worked for 25 years. Surviving are eight children and three stepchildren; two daughters, Jo Ann Lashbaugh and husband Edward, Virginia; and Shirley Ravenscroft and husband John, Lonaconing; six sons, Roy R. McKenzie and wife LaNita, Midland, Marvin T. McKenzie and wife Donna, Gilmore, Gary McKenzie and friend Tina, Lonaconing, Mark S. McKenzie and wife Sharon, Baltimore, Lewis H. McKenzie and wife Wilda, Lonaconing; and Norman McKenzie, Rawlings; one stepdaughter, Thelma Breighner, Bel Air; two stepsons, Leon Clark and wife Shirley, Kansas, and Raymond Clark and wife Shirley, Myersville; one sister, Olive George and husband Norris, Sykesville; one brother, Elmer McKenzie and wife Mary, LaVale; 22 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; a very special care taker, Linda Cutter, and many nieces and nephews. The body is at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, PA., Lonaconing. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lonaconing, with Father Adam Parker as celebrant. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing. Sons will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lonaconing.
