- FROSTBURG - Gilbert P. Beeman, 73, of 90 Linden Street, here, died Friday at Memorial Hospital. Born April 9, 1913 in Avilton, he was a son of the late Philander and Emma (Croft) Beeman. He was a retired employee of PPG Industries and an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member, former elder and trustee of the First Prebyterian Church, here. He was second vice commander of the Farrady Post 24, American Legion; past patron of Mountain Chapter 15, Order of Eastern Star; vice president of the Past Matrons and Patrons Association of Western Maryland; member of Mountain Lodge 99, A.F. & A.M.; past president of the Belles and Beaux Square Dance Association; and member of Mountain Lodge 40, Fraternal Order of Police. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edna (Gracie) Beeman; a half sister, Miss Iona McKenzie, Washington, DC.; a half brother, Robert McKenzie, Borden Shaft; two stepsisters, Mrs. Bonnie Delaney and Mrs. Virgie Carney, both of Detroit; a stepbrother, Charles McKenzie, Grahamtown; a niece and two nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, here, by the Rev. John M. Nelsen. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The Farrady Post 24, American Legion, will accord military graveside rites. Mountain Lodge 99, A.F. & A.M., will conduct a memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Mountain Chapter 15, Order of Eastern Star, at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Cumberland News, December 20, 1986.
