- Katherine wrote to the web master (MIchael McKenzie, her nephew) in 1999 and advised that she was born on Julyb 13, 1923 (Friday the 13th) and was delivered by a midwife. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church at Woolslayer and Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh.
She attended the followeing elementary schools: Woolslayer, Minersville and Miller & Forbes. She attended the following high schools: Fifth Avenue and Schenley (but never graduated).
She and her husband left Pittsburgh on Friday, August 13, 1965 to reside in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They arrived on August 15, 1965. She worked for the first 3 1/2 years for an oil company in Port Everglades and then for the Broward County School System as a bookkeeper and a clerk for twenty years. She retired on February 28, 1989 "to a life of loafing" her words.
Katherine was cremated. Her ashes were spread around a Norway spruce pine at 2008 Briar Cove Road, Morgantown, Georgia. The ashes of her sister, Luise Frank McKenzie and brother-in-law, Donald Richard McKenzie, Sr. had been spread around the same tree in 2010.
