Good Luck Enlarged MSA S1190-2076, p. 1 From SL 21,632 This property was assigned by Michael McKenzie in 1792. Author's analysis: If you compare the "marks" on the 7th page of this document with the "mark" on the 1779 Oath of Allegiance, it is obvious that the mark belonged to the same "Michael". Inasmuch as Daniel MacKenzie (b. 1717) did not have a son, Michael, and all other children of John (b. abt. 1687) had moved from the area, this "Michael" has to be either John's son, Michael (b. abt. 1727) or Michael's son, Michael. Going one step further, when you look at the original warrant for "Good Luck" dated 30 May 1771, also involving "Michael", the only conclusion one can reach is that this Michael had to be the son of John (b. abt. 1687) because Michael (b. 1727) would not have been able to beget a child in time for that child to have entered into the 1771 transaction.

Michael McKenzie Foxes Hall, Liberty and Justice and The Complement MSA S1212-189, p. 1 From SL 22,048 This special warrant involves three pieces or property: Foxes hall, Liberty & Justice and The Complement. On page 4, there are references to McKenzie's Discovery, McKenzie's Hill and the Addition to Hopson's Choice. As a result, we know that it was located very nearby the original property of John McKenzie (b. 1bt. 1687). Because of the absence of a "mark" however, we cannot yet establish if the Michael McKenzie referenced in the warrants is the son of John (b. abt. 1687).

Deed from Aaron McKenzie (b. abt. 1804) to David MacKenzie (b. 1798) Page 1 Howard County Deed Records Book 1-8, pg. 1 001. This deed references a sale involving the 98 acres that Michael McKenzie inherited from John McKenzie (b. 1687) in his will of 1798. Aaron McKenzie is believed to be a brother of David MacKenzie (b. 1798) per the research of Dick MacKenzie. This seems to transcend family branches and is a little confusing.
Deed from Aaron MacKenzie to David MacKenzie (b. 1798) Howard Co., MD Land Records Liber #1 f. 8 This is a better copy of the deed listed on David MacKenzie's home page. It involves a 98 acre share of the land that was devised by John MacKenzie to his children in 1758. This particular deeds references that the property involved is that parcel that John devised to his son, Michael MacKenzie. It is still a bit of a mystery as to precisely who the Aaron was who sold this parcel to David. Dick MacKenzie surmises that this Aaron may have been a grandson of Michael MacKenzie, although nothing is referenced in the deed, or any other document for that matter to precisely identify him.
Deed from Aaron MacKenzie to David MacKenzie (b. 1798) Howard Co., MD Land Records Liber #1 f. 9 This is the second page of the deed whereby an Aaron MacKenzie conveys land, originally devised to Michael Mackenzie by his father, John MacKenzie, in John's 1758 will.

This document tracks the language of John MacKenzie's bequests in his Will dated 1758. |
1783 Tax List State of Maryland - McKenzie The author went through all of the tax lists for the State of Maryland and extracted all of the McKenzies in the various counties. He also extracted some Maccenys, which was another family name that the author was chasing at the time he conducted this research.
