| Charles Carroll of Annapolis Letter to Daniel MacKenzie Page 1 From Scott Carter Williams September 2018:
Here is the letter from Charles Carroll of Annapolis to Dan'l Mackenzie. What we see here is Daniel acting as the agent/debt collector for the aged Charles Carroll in March of 1782. Despite his advanced years, CC of A is still mightily concerned with collecting money owed him and gives Dan'l detailed instructions on same. Then he tells Dan'l to tell his debtors to meet him on 15 June (when he arrives at Doughoregan) if they haven't settled with him yet.
We have seen one or two other instances where Daniel McKenzie (of John) appears to be doing business with the Carroll family (deed to Molly' Fancy I think, and the New Bedford tract) - but that is not really unusual, the Carrolls bought and sold lots of properties. In this correspondence, however, we see a closer relationship and have a MacKenzie in the direct employ of Charles Carroll of Annapolis - and in a position of trust no less.

This reference to "Daniel MacKenzie" is most probably a reference to either Daniel MacKenzie (b. 1717, died bef. Jun 1784) or his son, Daniel (b. abt. 1740).
