Hyndman, PA – John Merle Emerick, 84, of Hyndman went to be with the Lord Sunday May 22, 2016 at Devlin Manor. Born July 4, 1931 in Fairhope, PA; he was a son of the late Merle Robert and Goldie Alice (Shroyer) Emerick. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Emerick; and a granddaughter, Angela Emerick. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace (Mason) Emerick, whom he married May 3, 1952; children, John Robert Emerick and wife Ramona of Corriganville, Zane Edward Emerick and wife Renee, Sandra Sue Burkett and husband Robert, Deanna Lynn Coughenour and husband Michael; a brother Gerald Emerick and wife Deloris all of Hyndman; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was a pump mechanic and machinist at Kelly Springfield Tire. He retired in 1987 after 34 years. He was a founding member of Faith Community Church, The Gideons International, Paw Paw Hunting Club. He also was a Machinist Apprentice at the B&O Railroad. He did a lot of machine work for friends and neighbors. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Faith Community Church, 287 Faith Church Rd., Hyndman on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cooks Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Community Church or Gideons International. Hyndman - John Cecil Mason, 73, of RD 1, died today at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He was born on July 8, 1899, at RD 1, Hyndman, a son of the late Oscar and Sarah Kennell Mason. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Hyndman Grange 1954 and the Palo Alto United Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Freda Hosselrode Mason; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Emerick, Hyndman; one brother, Clark J. Mason; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Campbell, both of Youngstown, Ohio; and eight grandchildren. Zeigler Funeral Home. Funeral on Sunday; interment at Cook's Mills Cemetery. Freda E. Mason, 79, of Hyndman RD 1, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1985, at Memorial Hospital of Bedford County. Born in Hyndman, Aug. 28, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Levi Hosselrode and Anna (Smeak) Hosselrode. She was a member of Faith Community Church and Hyndman Grange 1954. Her husband, John Cecil Mason, died Sept. 15, 1972. Surviving are one son, Carl Mason, Bedford; a daughter, Mrs. Grace M. Emerick, Hyndman RD 1; one sister, Mrs. Florence Thomas, Meyersdale; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Mrs. Anna Mary Mason died on September 16 at her home at Cooks Mills. She was born on October 11, 1875, at Hyndman, a daughter of Jacob and Martha Logsdon Smeak, and was married twice. Her first husband was Levi Hosselrode, and her second was Oscar Mason. Both are deceased. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Florence Thomas of Meyersdale; Mrs. Freda Mason of Hyndman; Mrs. Evelyn Wolford of Cumberland, Fred Hosselrode of Cooks Mills, John Mason of Hyndman and Clark Mason and Mrs. Minnie Campbell, both of Youngstown, O. Two sisters, Mrs. Henry Linderman and Mrs. Swearman, both of Meyersdale, and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Palo Alto Church, with the Rev. L. J. Moore of Ellerslie Methodist Church, officiating. Interment at the church cemetery in charge of Ziegler Funeral Home.
