Roger was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, was a World War II Veteran serving with the US Army, was a painter by trade and a member of the Painters Local #947, was a member of LaVale Volunteer Fire Department for 61 years, the Cumberland Elks, Cumberland Moose and the Cumberland Eagles. He is survived by a son Rodger Paul Lancaster of Elkhart, Indiana, two daughters Susan Dolores Harrison and husband Mike of Hagerstown and Brenda Elizabeth Sauerwald and husband Steven of Jefferson, MD, two grandchildren Hannah Twigg and Staci Harrison 6 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren and a brother Harold Melvin Lancaster and wife Doris of Frostburg Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Hwy LaVale on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Lee Brotemarkle officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. LaVale Volunteer Fire Department will conduct memorial services on Sunday at 1:30 PM in funeral home chapel. Pallbearers will be the membership of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department.     Elmer C. Lancaster, 68, of McHenry Street, LaVale, died yesterday at his home after a long illness. An electrician, he had operated his own motor repair business for nearly ten years. Prior to that he was employed as an electrician at Amcelle Plant of Celanese Fibers Company. A native of Eckhart, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Margaret (Rephann) Lancaster. He served in the Navy prior to World War I and participated in the action at Vera Cruz, Mexico. He was a life member of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Lancaster is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lelia (Engle) Lancaster; two sons, Harold M. Lancaster, Frostburg, and Roger I. Lancaster, LaVale; and four grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Arthur C. Lancaster, LaVale; one half-brother, Oliver Porter, Barton; a sister, Mrs. Leroy Sparks, Hagerstown, and a half-sister, Mrs. Hattie Porter, Sykesville. His only other sister, Mrs. William F. Brown, Bridgeville, Pa., died in December. The body is at the John J. Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, U. S. Route 40 and Braddock Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. Services will be conducted there Friday at 2 p. m. by Rev. Melvin D. Hughson, pastor of Park Place Methodist Church. Burial will be in Porter Cemetery. She is a native of Eckhart, the daughter of the late Vincent and Hattie (porter) Engle. Mrs. Lancaster is survived by two sons, Harold M. Lancaster, Frostburg, and Roger M. Lancaster, LaVale; two brothers, William and Vincent Engle, Eckhart; two sisters, Mrs. Percy Skidmore, Eckhart, and Mrs. Russell Seifarth, Hoffman; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church and its Friendship Bible Class. Mrs. Lancaster was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the LaVale Colunteer Fire Department.     ENGLE, Mrs. Hattie Porter

    Eckhart, Md., April 8 - Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Engle, 72, widow of Vincent Engle, were held Friday afternoon from the home in the Porter settlement near Eckhart. The Rev. Norris A. Lineweaver, pastor of the Methodist Church, was assisted by the church choir. Burial was in Porter Cemetery. The pallbearers, nephews, were Cecil, Cobey Irvin, Lester and Elmer Engle and Marshall Porter.

His funeral Thursday will be nine years to the day since the funeral of his wife, Mrs. Ida May (Burley) Wineland. Nine children survive: Mrs. Edna Lohof and Mrs. Julia Hager, Cumberland; Mrs. Lucille Hardman, LaVale; Mrs. Catherine Fuller, Corriganville; Mrs. Hazel Miller and Mrs. Marguerite McDermott, Ellersie; Dalton Wineland, Bedford, Pa.; Russell and Frank Wineland, LaVale.
