    Ralph Eugene Thomas, 81, of Berwyn Heights, Md., died Dec. 29, 1996, at Greenbelt Nursing Center, Greenbelt, Md. Born May 30, 1915, in Meyersdale, he was a son of the late Joseph and Florence (Hasselrode) Thomas. He was a retired Chief Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy, with 30 years of service. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, the former Ruth L. Hay; a stepson, James H. Morrison; daughters: Ruth A. Williams and Nadene L. Neel; grandchildren: Aaron Morrison, Laura Morrison, Laila Williams, Alia Williams and Melissa Neel; a sister, Mary Geiger; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Jan. 7 at Borgwardt Funeral Home, Beltsville. Md. A funeral service was held Jan. 8 at the Berwyn Baptist Church, College Park, Md.     Mrs. Anna Mary Mason died on September 16 at her home at Cooks Mills. She was born on October 11, 1875, at Hyndman, a daughter of Jacob and Martha Logsdon Smeak, and was married twice. Her first husband was Levi Hosselrode, and her second was Oscar Mason. Both are deceased. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Florence Thomas of Meyersdale; Mrs. Freda Mason of Hyndman; Mrs. Evelyn Wolford of Cumberland, Fred Hosselrode of Cooks Mills, John Mason of Hyndman and Clark Mason and Mrs. Minnie Campbell, both of Youngstown, O. Two sisters, Mrs. Henry Linderman and Mrs. Swearman, both of Meyersdale, and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Palo Alto Church, with the Rev. L. J. Moore of Ellerslie Methodist Church, officiating. Interment at the church cemetery in charge of Ziegler Funeral Home.     Jacob Smeak, one of this county's pioneer citizens, died at his home near Hyndman, last Thursday, from a complication of diseases, aged 59 years. He was highly respected in that community, and his kind and jolly disposition won for him a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Annie Hosselrode of Cook's Mills, and William, Charles, Harry, Emma, Ruth and Susan, at home. The funeral services were held Saturday in the Reformed church, Rev. J. F. Kerlin, pastor, officiating. The interment was made in Hyndman cemetery. Interment was made in Hyndman cemetery. Mrs. Smeaks was the widow of Jacob Smeaks, deceased 26 years, and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Emma Wilhelm, of Buffalo Mills, Mrs. Ruth Swearman and Mrs. Susie Swearman and Mrs. Lyndman of Myersdale; Mrs. Annie Mason and Harry Smeaks of Hyndman,
