Thomas J. DeVore, 87, retired farmer of near Ellerslie, died yesterday in Allegany County Infirmary. He was born April 23, 1864, a son of the late Daniel and Rachel DeVore. His wife, the former Miss Rachel Clites, died in 1940. Mr. DeVore held memberhip in Ellerslie Evangelical Church and Tonkaway Tribe No. 120, Improved Order of Red Men, Cumberland Survivors include four children, Mrs. Henry Lowery and Mrs. George Spellman, Ellerslie; Mrs. Walter Lowery and Harvey DeVore, both of Route 1, Hyndman, Pa., and 28 grandchildren. Rites will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Lowery, Ellerslie, by Rev. Charles Raley. Burial will take place in Porter Cemetery there. Hyndman, Pa., Sept. 15 - Mrs. Rachel Jane Devore, 78, wife of Thomas Devore, died at her home yesterday near Hyndman. She had been ill about six months. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Clites. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Henry Lowery, Ellerslie; Mrs. Walter Lowery, Hyndman, and Mrs. George Speelman, Ellerslie, and one son, Harvey Devore, Hyndman, 32 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Devore was a life-long member of the Evangelical church. The Cumberland Evening Times, September 15, 1941
