Ward Newcomer Coder, 75, of 3709 Washington Street, Hollywood, Fla., died yesterday at Latrobe (Pa.) Hospital, after an illness of four weeks. He was formerly of Ridgeley. A native of Mahaffey, Pa., he was a son of the late William and Emma (Newcomer) Coder. His wife, Viola K. (Logsdon) Coder, died in 1964. He was a retired Celanese Fibers Company employee and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ridgeley. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard Iles, Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Orville Clark, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and four grandchildren. The body will be returned to the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home, Frostburg, where friends will be received tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Winterberg officiating. Interment will follow in Eckhart Cemetery.

Mrs. Viola Katherine Coder, 63, of 8 Second Avenue, Ridgeley, died late yesterday in Memorial Hospital where she was admitted two hours earlier. Mrs. Coder was admitted to the hospital in preparation for an operation today. She was a daughter of the late Owen and Otlilie (Filsinger) Logsdon, and was a native of Eckhart. Surviving are her husband, Ward Coder; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Iles, Montoursville, Pa., and Mrs. Orville Clark, of New Haven, Ind.; two brothers, Enoch Logsdon, Eckhart, and Samuel Logsdon, Ridgeley; three sisters, Mrs. William Eckhart, Frostburg, Mrs. Raymond Blank, Eckhart, and Mrs. Thomas Haley, Akron, and four grandchildren. Mrs. Coder was a member of Calvary Methodist Church, Ridgeley. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home where services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a. m. by Rev. Ben Hartley. Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.

Bureau of the Evening Times, August 20, 1906 – The funeral of Mr. Owen Logsdon, whose death occurred at the hospital as the result of injuries received in an accident in Eckhart Mine some time ago, took place Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence. Rev. W.D. Perry, of the Eckhart Methodist Church, preached and conducted the services. A large crowd of friends attended. The deceased is survived by his mother and two brothers, also his wife and four (sic) children, all residing at Eckhart Mines. He was well known here, being the son of the late Samuel Logsdon.

He was buried in Porter Cemetery, Eckhart, Allegany Co., Maryland.

Mrs. Ottllie (Filsinger) Logsdon, 85, widow of Olin Logsdon, formerly ot Eckhart, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Viola Coder, Ridgeley. Survivors include three other daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Eckhart, Frostburg; Mrs. Annie Blank, Eckhart, and Mrs. Sarah Haley, Akron: two sons, Samuel Logsdon, Ridgeley, and Enoch Logsdon, Eckhart: a sister, Mrs. Mary Mills, Keyser; a brother, Philip Filsinger, Deer Park; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home, Frostburg, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. Services will be held there Sunday at 2 p. m. with Rev. Paul V. Taylor officiating.
