    He. William Smeak, whose home is in Hyndman, Pa., aged 23, while walking on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad tracks near Keyser yesterday morning, was struck by a passing train which ran over his right leg, cutting it off below the knee. After receiving surgical attention at Keyser, he was brought to this city last night on train No. 14, and taken to the Allegany Hospital where he was reported at 2:30 o'clock this morning to be resting as well as could be expected.     Jacob Smeak, one of this county's pioneer citizens, died at his home near Hyndman, last Thursday, from a complication of diseases, aged 59 years. He was highly respected in that community, and his kind and jolly disposition won for him a large circle of friends. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Annie Hosselrode of Cook's Mills, and William, Charles, Harry, Emma, Ruth and Susan, at home. The funeral services were held Saturday in the Reformed church, Rev. J. F. Kerlin, pastor, officiating. The interment was made in Hyndman cemetery. The deceased was a member of Lodge 483 K. of P. of Hyndman. The Bedford Gazette, December 14, 1906

    Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Jane Smeaks, 75 years old, who died Feb. 11, were held Saturday at her home about one mile south of Hyndman, Rev. M. V. Kelly, officiating. Interment was made in Hyndman cemetery. Mrs. Smeaks was the widow of Jacob Smeaks, deceased 26 years, and is survived by the following children: Mrs. Emma Wilhelm, of Buffalo Mills, Mrs. Ruth Swearman and Mrs. Susie Swearman and Mrs. Lyndman of Myersdale; Mrs. Annie Mason and Harry Smeaks of Hyndman,
    and William, at home; she also leaves three brothers: Benjamin, Wm. L., and Charles Logsdon, all of Hyndman. The Bedford Gazette, February 19, 1932

"William Porter, late of Allegany Co MD.(will written 20 May 1836, pr 25 Mar 1844) has wife unnamed, Children: Lendy Logsdon, wife of Lawrence Logsden, SarahLogsdon wife of Anthony Logsden.[1] He was age 10<15 (10) in 1810, marriedbefore 1820 census, he is m 18<26 and wife 16<26 in 1820 census, page 18. In 1830 the census index has him on page 38,which Letha Mitchell has read with Lawrence 20<30, wife 20<30 and 4 malesunder 10. By 1840 he has relocated toBedford Co PA where we have: m 40<50 (Lawrence), f 40<50 (Lendy-wife), 2m15<20, m 10<15, f 10<15, 2m 5<10, m <5, and f <5. This is undoubtedly the Lawrence Logsdon forwhich I have information from several descendents[1].
    I have not looked at the 1850 Bedford PA census where Letha has him located, but she has him back in MD, Mt Savage area, in 1860, 1870 and1880. 1860: Lawrence 59, Mary 61,Anthony 24, Samuel 20, Sarah 17 and Hiram 8. In 1870 Lawrence is age 70, Mary 71, Anthony is 37 34 with wife Rachel and two children, and Hiram 17. By 1880 he is 79 and living with son Moses and family.
