"C. W. Zeigler Found Unconscious Outside Mill Saturday Feb., 3rd"
"Succumbed In Afternoon of Same Day From Apoplexy, Funeral Monday"
"Large Number Pay Last Tribute of Respect Good Man Gone"

"St. Elmo was shocked Saturday morning upon learning of the sudden paryalitic (sic) stroke or attack of Apoplexy upon Mr. C. W. Zeigler, an active and energetic citizen. He had gone to his place of work, arriving some ten minutes ahead of time to commence his task, a habit he seemed to have learned and practiced in all his work, to be on time, but was heard to complain to some other member 'that he was not feeling just right, a pain in the back of his neck seemed to annoy.' "

"The different men began to fill their places at the mill where they were working when after a short time, Mr. Zeigler having stepped outside and being absent about three quarters of an hour, one of the hands became alarmed and looking outside saw the body on the ground and rushing out found Mr. Zeigler cold and unconscious."

"A doctor was called and the case was pronounced a very dangerous one. The patient was moved to his home as soon as possible and everything was done to recusited (sic) life that could be done; but by 4 p.m. death had come to the home and claimed the husband and father."

    OBITUARY

"Bro. Charles William Zeigler was born in Delaware, Ohio, February 21st, 1861; departed this life February 3, 1917 aged 55 years, 11 months, 12 days."

McKenzie at St. Elmo, Ill., and to this union three children were born: Ora, Harry, who died in infancy, and Ethel."

"As a citizen of St. Elmo, Mr. Zeigler always took an active part for the community's betterment and held a large place in the business activities of this city. He was engaged in the mercantile line for a number of years, (and) was postmaster four years.
