"He was born Oct. 19 (sic), 1912, in Beecher City, the son of Joseph and Ota Steele McKenzie. He was married to Ales Musser on Aug. 20, 1932 at Vandalia."

"He leaves his wife, Ales; two daughters, Joan at home, and Mrs. Ben (Sandra) Mosbey of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; five sons, T-Sgt Stanley McKenzie of Lubbock, Tex., S-Sgt. Gary McKenzie at Chanute Field, Ronald McKenzie at home, Phillip McKenzie of Santa Monica, Calif., and Keith of Shelbyville; his mother, Mrs. Ota McKenzie of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs Elwood (Ruth) Durbin of Paw-Paw, and Mrs. Harry (Mildred) Smith of Taylorville; and four brothers, Eldon of Indiana, Warren of Texas, Walter of Charleston,and Jerald of Springfield."

"John Dial and son, Woodrow Dial, attended the funeral of John Dial's half-brother, Joe McKenzie, last Thursday. Mr. McKenzie was the son of the late Lewis and Sarah McKenzie and was raised in the Moccasin community."

"He was 72 years of age and he, with his family, had lived at Girard, south of Springfield for the last several years."

"He leaves his wife, who was the former Odie Steel, of the Beecher City community before their marriage."

"Mr. McKenzie leaves six sons and two daughters and a large number of relatives. He had been in a Springfield hospital for some time before his death."

"The funeral services were held in Windsor last Thursday afternoon with burial in Ash cemetery."

"Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie were residents of the Cottage and Moccasin communities several years after their marriage where several of their children were born. At one time he was an employee of the C. & E. I. Railroad in Moccasin a few years."

"In his boyhood he attended the Lower Moccasin school during 1897 and 1898 when we happed to be teaching there. Therefore, to us, Joe was a mighty fine student and we admired him very much."
