    "Ralph Willard McKenzie, 54, of Tampico, a former Mendota resident, died Tuesday morning, May 18, in Community Hospital, Sterling."

    "He was born in Lovington, Ill., Dec. 28, 1910, the son of James W. and Susie C. McKenzie. He entered the Decatur public schools and James Millikin University, Decatur. In April of 1934, he married Margaret Powers of Decatur and she preceded him in death in December of 1950. In February of 1952 he married Velma Gilkey in Mendota."

    "Mr. McKenzie was of the Lutheran (sic) faith and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks at Sterling and the Merchants Assn. of Sterling. While residing in Mendota, he was employed at Conco Engingeering Works. In 1956 he moved to Tampico and operated McKenzie's Book Store, Sterling, from 1955 until March of 1965 when he sold the store and devoted his time to the McKenzie Wholesale Paper Co. which he started in 1957."

    "Surviving are his wife of Tampico; two sons, John of Aurora and Robert of Tampico; one daughter, Roberta, Dixon; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Bailey, Decatur, and Mrs. Charles Burke, St Louis, Mo. His parents preceded him in death."

    "Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock in the Schmitt Chapel, Tampico, with Rev. Bruce Johnson of the First Christian Church, Sterling, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery."

    "Mrs. Ralph W. McKenzie, 38, 114 Sixteenth Street, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 23, in St. Mary's Hospital, LaSalle, where she had been a patient since last Wednesday."

    "Margaret Powers McKenzie, only daughter of William L. Powers, Morris, Illinois, and Mrs. Agnes Powers, Mendota, was born February 15, 1912, at Streator. The days of her youth were spent in Decatur until her freshman year in high school which she spent in Italy and Switzerland. She returned to Decatur for her other years of high school, and after graduating entered Millikin University where she received a B.A. degree in 1933. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and was very active in all campus activities. She served as president of her sorority, the French Club, Girls Athletics and of Pan Hellenic."

    "Margaret Powers was united in marriage with Ralph W. McKenzie at Chicago on April 5, 1934, and to this union two sons, John and Robert, and a daughter, Roberta were born."

    "James Wilson McKenzie, a retired Wabash car inspector, died in the Wabash hospital at 3 p.m. yesterday. He had been in the hospital four weeks and had undergone a major operation three weeks ago."

    "Born in Fayette county April 24, 1868, Mr. McKenzie moved from Lovington to Decatur in 1917. He married Suzanne (sic) C. Huffman in Champaign Feb. 23, 1898. He retired from railroad work two years ago."

    Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Charles Burke and Mrs. Kenneth Bailey of Decatur, a son, R.W. McKenzie of Mattoon; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Rhodes of St. Elmo, Mrs. Mary Hosler of Monticello and Mrs. Melissa Doty of Bement; a brother, Charles McKenzie of Altamont, and four grandchildren."

    Funeral services will be held at St. James' Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. The body is at the Moran & Sons Funeral home."
