    "ELWOOD DURBIN DIES IN ACCIDENT FRIDAY EVENING"

    "Funeral services were held in the Church of St. Theresa Monday at 10 for Elwood Durbin, 62, of Route 3 Earlville. Mr. Durbin died Friday evening, April 5, as the result of a one car accident southeast of Paw Paw. He was buried in St. Theresa's Cemetery and the Rev. Dale Maloy officiated. Visitation was in the Torman Funeral Home Sunday with a scripture service conducted that evening by Father Maloy."

    "Born December 11, 1911, in Fayette County, Joseph Elwood Durbin was the son of the late George and Minnie Vanderveer Durbin. He was a farmer in the Rollo area for many years."

    "He is survived by his wife, Ruth McKenzie Durbin, to whom he was married in July of 1935; three children, Faye of Moline, George of Earlville and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Sawicki of Sandwich; three grandchildren; four brothers, Lowell of Serona; Earl of Paw Paw, Leon of Effingham and Dale of St. Elmo and one sister, Mrs. Sidney Steele, who resides in Texas."

    "EARLVILLE MAN FATALLY INJURED"

    "Joseph Elwood (Woody) Durbin, 62, of rural Earlville, was fatally injured in a single car accident at 8:45 p.m. Friday, April 5 when he lost control of his car and it struck an embankment."

    "Sterling state troopers report Durbin was eastbound on South Paw Paw Road, four tenths of a mile east of the Earlville Road, in Lee County. His car went off onto the shoulder of the road, traveled 200 feet back before coming across the road and into a ditch on the left side. The vehicle finally came to a stop when it struck an embankment."

    "Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Theresa's Church, Earlville, with the Rev. Fr. Dale Maloy officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery."

    "Mr. Durbin was born December 11, 1911 in Fayette Co., Ill., a son of George and Minnie Vanderveer Durbin. In July 1935 he was married to the former Ruth McKenzie and the couple farmed in the Rollo area."
