Born near Thomasville, Ga. One of 5 children. Her family moved to Panama City when she was a young girl. She graduated from Florida State College and became a school teacher. Since there were very few roads in the area she traveld to work by boat. She married Robert McKenzie and was quite prominent in local affairs. She and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Dixon, landscaped many of the parks, public buildings, and churches. During WWII the McKenzie house became like a second home for service men stationed in the area.

Nancy Eveline McCord was born on a plantation near Thomasville, Ga. Her family owned slaves which she remembered as a small child. After the Civil War, one of the slaves chose to stay on with the family & he accompanied Nancy's brother to seminary and learned to preach. He wrote letters to the family as long as he lived telling about his church work.
